Alli Penovich is an avid freediver and spearo. She grew up in Florida but started traveling all over the world at a very young age. Over the years, her love for anything and everything to do with the ocean has grown. Alli took her first freediving course at the age of 17. Shortly thereafter, she followed in her dad’s footsteps and started spearfishing - it has been a huge part of her life ever since. She has acquired 4 Spearfishing World Records since 2013, helping establish her name in the spearfishing world.
In June 2019, she became a Level 1 Freedive Instructor with Freediving Instructors International. Shortly after receiving that certification, she booked an one-way ticket to Bali to focus on freediving. She signed up for her first freediving competition, the Singapore Depth Championships, and ended up winning Overall Female as well as three other awards - Best Female Newcomer, Deepest Female Constant Weight Bifins, and tied for Deepest Female No Fins. Shortly after, she entered one more competition while in Indonesia and ended up winning third Overall Female and dove a personal best depth of 71m (233ft). After a successful year of competing, she is excited to have been selected for the 2020/2021 USA Freediving Team.
